About Johan

Johan began his career at Wout Monseurs 35 years ago. He puts his years of experience to good use every day in his role as commercial director.

A range of tasks and responsibilities

As commercial director, there are many different responsibilities. Johan therefore has a wide range of tasks.

What are your duties and responsibilities?

Rob handles the financial side of the organization and I take care of everything else. This includes the commercial side of things, agreements with suppliers, managing colleagues, sales targets, product range, overall day-to-day operational management, personnel policy, and sales processes.

Together with Rob , Johan also discusses long-term policy. In sales, he is mainly involved in multifunctional equipment and its contract management. In short, a varied range of tasks! 

"I learned literally everything that needed to be done in practice." 

We asked Johan about the start of his career. His career at Wout Monseurs began shortly after the company was founded. A start that has since led to 35 years of expertise!

Can you tell us a little about how you started at the company?

“I applied for the vacancy that was available. Rob had started working for his father and founder Wout a few months earlier, and I was the firstemployee employee they hired. That was indeed 35 years ago."

Over the years, Johan has seen many different facets of working in office design. A wonderful adventure that has provided experience in various areas. 

Can you describe the path from your first contract to your position as commercial director? 

 “It's been a long journey, but in short: I started with zero experience and knowledge. I sold PCs, fax machines, wet copy machines, and typewriters. But I also assembled furniture, delivered office supplies, did administrative work and purchasing, processed orders, you name it.”

Since then, Wout Monseurs has grown steadily and there have been many developments, including the coming and going of colleagues. To create clarity and efficiency, Rob and Johan decided 10 years ago that the tasks should be divided. Johan started as the person responsible for the commercial side and Rob takes care of the financial side.

The company, the change, and important lessons

One of the most important lessons Johan has learned in his career is that relationships with colleagues and business associates are essential. They are the foundation. We were also curious to hear about the changes he has seen over the past 35 years.  

Has Wout Monseurs changed over the past 35 years?

“Yes, indeed. A lot has changed. We have grown into a complete project designer with our own interior design department, and we have our own technical service that provides service to professional multifunctional companies at a European level. In addition, we have an advanced webshop that is easy for customers to use. In the field of office supplies, we have approximately 25,000 products...”

“We offer turnkey projects, providing customers with complete peace of mind. We have numerous software packages for digitizing document flows and secure printing to complement our machines. Our services also include audiovisual products: wireless presentation, meeting rooms for team meetings, and reservation software for meeting rooms and workspaces.”

A wide range of services used in various industries: business services, tourism, manufacturing, healthcare, construction, and more.

Johan's vision for the future: "We want to become the best project designer in Breda and the surrounding area."

Johan has seen strong growth in recent years, which he wants to continue. This is partly due to developments on the website, social media, new employees, the product range, the showroom, and new partners.

What is your vision for the future of Wout Monseurs?

We now have a strong team with the right mix of experience and ideas from the younger generation. This enables us to serve our customers in every way possible.

And through the new showroom , we can welcome clients in a professional, welcoming environment. We therefore want to become the best project designer in Breda and the surrounding area.

A powerful and positive vision for the future! This is reflected in the large group of clients to whom multifunctional equipment is supplied. In addition, there is strong representation in the European river cruise industry.
