Every month, in "In conversationwith ...", we give the floor to one of Wout Monseurs' colleagues. This time, we talk to Martin, our sales advisor. Martin talks at length about his work experiences, special projects, and his specialty: turnkey projects.

You work at Wout Monseurs as a sales consultant. What exactly is your role/what are your responsibilities?

My work at Wout Monseurs involves visiting existing and new customers and working with them to find and create solutions for their office environment. And that in the broadest sense of the word.

Could you explain what an average working day looks like?

Well, that varies from day to day. Some days I visit the office and discuss all ongoing projects with the interior stylists. Other days I visit new and existing clients. Then I'm out and about answering their questions about office and project design.

What makes your work so enjoyable and challenging/what motivates you?

My work is only really enjoyable once I have arrived at the final solution. Then I can be sure that, together with the customer, I have come up with the most efficient design possible that we are both happy with. So, in short, the completion of the project is what makes it great, with happy and satisfied employees. That's when my mission is accomplished.

What is the added value of Wout Monseurs BV's advice in the field of project design?

Thanks to my 25 years of experience, I am able to give the right advice. For customers, this is not an everyday activity, so I am happy to share my knowledge and advice.

Can you give an example of a great project where your advice made a difference?

Yes, definitely! We recently received a request from one of our clients to restore vitality to the workplace and introduce more diversity into the meeting rooms. A complex request with many options for creative design! We fulfilled this request with swing benches, beanbags, and phone booths, among other things.

In addition, we were able to address the acoustics and upholstery in this project, resulting in a meeting room with a lawn and swing bench.

What factors do you take into account when designing office projects, and how does Wout Monseurs BV assist clients in this regard?

For us, the most important thing is to listen to the customer. This allows us to identify the exact problem and determine what the needs are. We can then fill in all the details, taking into account the budget and the latest trends! This way, everyone receives advice that is perfectly tailored to them.

To what extent do you provide additional advice regarding the basic question?

We always look beyond the basic question. If we only anticipate the basic questions from our contact, we often solve the problem in the short term. And that is not enough for us. It is very important that we look further at developments within the organization and, above all, developments in office design. All this to be ready for a very long period.

Project design encompasses various aspects, from office furniture to wall coverings and flooring. Wout Monseurs BV specializes in turnkey projects. What exactly does this entail?

As office environments are changing rapidly, it is essential that everyone can enjoy a good workplace. But what is just as important (or even more important) is the atmosphere. We can achieve all this with upholstery, office plants, and wall coverings, such as attractive visuals.

Thanks to our wide range of products, we are able to furnish an entire office building. I always say: from floor to ceiling and everything in between!

As a sales consultant, you are in regular contact with customers. What do you think is important in this personal contact?

Anyone can and should always approach me if they have questions about their office layout. You can tell that this is appreciated and that it is essential for a good, long-lasting relationship.

How do you stay informed about the latest developments/trends/innovations to keep your knowledge up to date?

I stay up to date with the latest trends and innovations by regularly visiting the manufacturers we have been working with for many years. I also attend industry-specific trade fairs on a regular basis. Every time, there are wonderful things you can incorporate into future office designs.

Why should readers come to you for advice over coffee?

Many have gone before you, and at two meters tall, I can say that I am one of the tallest office designers in the Netherlands!
