Every month, in "In conversation with...", we give the floor to one of our colleagues at Wout Monseurs. This month, we are talking to our sales representative: Mick Monseurs. He talks about his experience, vision, and plans for the future.

About Mick Monseurs

Mick recently joined the family business and works as a commercial assistant. Before that, he studied Integral Safety Science and gained his first experience at Rabobank as a CDD analyst. There, he was responsible for detecting money laundering practices and tracking down terrorist financing. After a while, Mick realized that he wanted to pursue a career in the family business, Wout Monseurs.

The third generation of Monseurs

With Mick working in the company, the passion for offices is now being carried on into the third generation! We were therefore curious to find out what motivated him to join Wout Monseurs.

What is the reason you got involved in the family business?

“I have always been interested in entrepreneurship. That is why I took a minor in entrepreneurship during my studies. I also felt the need to work in a dynamic, young company. This was also what my father had in mind for the company. Of course, I am also proud of the way the company has grown over the years. I would like to contribute to this.”

Purchasing, planning, and an optimal organizational process

Planning is essential at Wout Monseurs. For large projects involving the delivery of various products, we work with multiple parties. This requires a great deal of contact between suppliers of electronics, furniture, and accessories, for example.

What are your responsibilities within the company?

"I am responsible for purchasing for the project department. Each project has one or more suppliers who provide the furniture. I ensure that furniture is purchased correctly and then work with the supplier and customer to draw up a schedule for the delivery of these products."

Mick is also responsible for managing organizational processes. He analyzes and identifies opportunities to work even more efficiently in the operational field. Think of the automation of work processes, which saves a lot of time! This allows us to focus even more on creating beautiful working environments for our customers.

What does your work week look like?

Sometimes I open my laptop and start working on my tasks. Other times, I have a scheduled visit to a supplier or I visit a customer. I really enjoy the variety in my work. It means that no two weeks are the same, and it keeps me sharp and motivated.

“Sometimes you have to pause and reflect on certain things in order to move forward.”

Mick derives a lot of energy from optimizing processes. He is constantly looking for new ways to improve efficiency within the company. The question is "Why?" is often central.

“Sometimes you have to pause and reflect on certain things in order to move forward. That's why it's great to work in a small, dynamic company. You can actually initiate change and see the results in the short term. If it doesn't work, I go back to the drawing board. That's what I like about working in the business world.”
